Victoria Hand Project – designed and developed a low-cost, 3D printed upper-limb prosthesis that they are getting to amputees in need all over the world.
We were looking for an affordable prosthetic arm for a student at the Himalayan Komang Hostel. We discovered (yay Google) that the twin sons of Dr. Shrestha, a founder of the Nepal Orthopaedic Hospital in Kathmandu were engineering students working on an a prosthetic arm at the University of Victoria. The Victoria Hand Project team is phenomenal. And, double yay Google, the prosthetics are currently funded by a Google grant. Please watch our short video, Jigme’s Hand
. He was the first recipient of their child size hand. I was honored to be there for the final fitting. His joy is contagious!
