Rolwaling Valley, Everest Region Galleries
During Oct and Nov of 2016, our group trekked up the Rolwaling valley and crossed the Tashi Lapcha La – 5755 meters. The Rolwaling valley is not well traveled and is a steep, narrow valley to start and opens up to some wider valleys where high mountain communities exist. The upper part of the valley has a moraine lake (Tosa Rolpa) which is one of the most studied lakes in the world, as the moraine could fail which would cause severe flooding downstream. Above the lake, it is a two day walk on a boulder covered glacier to get to the pass. Once over the pass, we were in the Everest Region, a much more widely traveled area. We took a northern route from Thame and crossed the Renjo La – 5360 meters. From there we descended to Gokyo which is on a beautiful alpine lake. We then traveled down the valley to Lukla for our return flight to Kathmandu.
All of our treks have been organized and operated by Happy Feet Mountaineer Pvt. Ltd.
We are pleased to recommend them to anyone interested in a trip to Nepal.
